Members learn together about the history of the local and surrounding areas. In most months visits are arranged to an attraction such as a stately home, a castle, a church, or a museum. The winter programme comprises illustrated talks by expert historians.

Suggestions by members for new outings and other activities are greatly welcomed. The group is distinctly sociable with most activities ending with a convivial meal, and a Christmas lunch is held each year.
